SPACE age technology has landed in Driffield, thanks to the arrival of a new beauty and nail salon which has got off to a flying start.
Beautique 32, on King Street, has just opened its doors to the public after an extensive refurbishment and owner Jane Clappison, of Brandesburton, said they were taking bookings while the decorators were still at work from customers keen to try some of the unique treatments available.

One treatment that is sure to be a talking point is the Power Plate, a state of the art exercise machine unique to Driffield.

Jane said: "There is no need to shower and no need to change. People can come along in their lunch hour and jump on to the power plate.

"You are in a room on your own so it suits people who don't like to be on show in a gym and those who don't have the time to have a shower.

"It was set up for astronauts because when they went into space they were getting muscle wastage so they wanted to have something they could take with them."

According to Ms Clappison, a 15-minute session on the Power Plate at least three times a week can help to reduce cellulite, body fat and stress while improving flexibility, bone density and muscle tone and helping with such ailments as osteoporosis.

"It is also good for women or men who are getting to a stage of life when they start having falls and break bones. This machine can help with their rehabilitation, " Jane added.

Alongside the Power Plate the salon offers a range of treatments, from facials to manicures, and from pedicures to holistic treatments such as Hopi ear candling and reflexology.

Beautique 32 is also the place to be if you are looking for intense facial treatments courtesy of Mandy Taylor and Christine Sweeney who offer a range of dermaesthetics treatments including botox and dermal fillers.

Ms Clappison has employed five members of staff, including her own daughters, nail technician Adele and receptionist Stephanie Clappison who hopes to go on to train as a make-up artist.
