THE businessman who ran the Driffield franchise of Bairstow Eves has wished the town's latest estate agency all the best for the future and apologised to his customers and staff for the sudden loss of his business.
Geoff Lloyd told the Driffield Times: "I would like to wish Hunters all the very best.

"I know they will look after the clients very well and I would like to thank all my past and present clients for their custom.

"I am sorry for the sudden closure of the business and for my staff losing their jobs, too.

"I would like to think that we were a breath of fresh air to the estate agency business in the area and just wish that we had been able to continue the good work that we had been doing with numerous satisfied clients."

Mr Lloyd added: "This has been a massive personal loss to me. It is a very expensive business to run if you are not able to sell the properties because people cannot get mortgages in the current economic climate. People are not buying and selling houses anywhere near the quantity of 12 months ago."

Hunters Estate Agency is based at the premises of HTR Solicitors on Middle Street South and is being run by franchisee Nicola Watson, who lives in Driffield and who has been working at the Bridlington branch of Hunters for a year.
