THE family of a Driffield man who died following an incident in a Bridlington car park have paid an emotional tribute to him this week.
As previously reported, Paul Midgley, 23, died in the early hours of last Friday morning, August 15, from injuries sustained in the incident.
A 16-year-old youth was remanded in custody charged with Mr Midgley's murder when he appeared at Beverley
Youth Court on Tuesday.
Now, police have issued the following statement on behalf of his family.
The statement reads: "It's nearly two weeks since we tragically lost our son Paul and we cannot put into words just how much we will miss him and how much losing him has left us with a void we will never be able to fill. From an early age, Paul was inquisitive and had a thirst for knowledge and the desire to learn more with the ability to take on information like a sponge.
"He enjoyed being active, playing golf and was a long term fan of Chelsea football team as well as a regular spectator at Hull City.
"Paul loved cooking and could often be found attempting to create a variety of dishes but always had a reluctance to wash the pots afterwards.
"He had a fantastic sense of humour and that is possibly what we will miss most of all."
The statemet added: "We would like to thank everyone who has helped us at this time but would now ask to be left alone to come to terms with our very sad loss."
