Driffield Woldsmen Angling Club were at Westlands near Catwick on Sunday.
With heavy rain at the start of the match this looked like it might be a long wet day but fortunately as the match started the rain stopped and it turned out to be a nice day.

The match turned out to be a bit disappointing for some anglers who on
ly managed a few ounces or the odd pound of fish but about a third of the anglers did manage to find fish with the winner L Duggleby putting together a good net of 37lb12oz.

Result: 1 L Duggleby 37lb12oz; 2 D Banks 23lb; 3 I Marshall 22lb9oz; 4 P Stafford 21lb1oz.

On Sunday August 9 the Phil and Norman Hickson Memorial match was held at Swanlands at Thorne. This match is fished by anglers from the Hearts of Oak and the Driffield Woldsmen Angling Club and they raised £103 for charity.

The winner was P Suggitt and R Leech won the Norman Hickson Trophy for biggest fish with an 11lb carp. The anglers would like to thank York Tackle for their kind donation of raffle prizes.

Result: 1 P Suggitt 42lb8oz; 2 C McNeil 41lb; 3 R Dinan 33lb; 4 P Robinson 15lb.

The Woldsmen's next match is on August 31 at Hosticks, Woodmansey. Will anglers please note you need to keep nets, white maggots and only brown pellets. No meat or coloured bait.

For more information contact C McNeil on 01377 254716.
